Swiss Re calls for action as AMR becomes a global health crisis
Paul Murray (pictured), CEO of Life & Health Reinsurance at Swiss Re, has pointed out that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is becoming a serious danger to world health.
Even while COVID-19 is no longer as prominent in the public consciousness, nations like the US and UK are nevertheless affected by its effects on mortality and health. But AMR, which the World Health Organization (WHO) has dubbed “the silent pandemic,” presents a serious and less obvious concern.
AMR is still gradually taking lives, but excess mortality associated with the COVID-19 pandemic might last up to ten years, according to a recent report by Swiss Re.
